Fibre optic media converters simply convert the electrical network signals from Cat5e or better cabling used in Ethernet local area networks (LAN), to optical signals used in fibre optic based networks. Optical networks are able to transmit their signals further, faster and are immune to interference from outside sources such as mains electric cables.

The PoE converter adds to this functionality by providing power via the RJ45 port to a connected, PoE capable, device when powered via the converter’s mains power connector.

The Advance PoE (15.4W) Gigabit SFP Media Converter is a compact, unmanaged converter ideally suited to low power applications such as static IP cameras. It features a single 10/100/1000Base-T PoE (15.4W, 802.3af) RJ45 copper port and a Gigabit SFP port that supports any Advance brand Gigabit SFP module. This converter is ideal for Ethernet network extensions, remote IP CCTV cameras, wireless hotspots and more. It’s flexible optical port makes it ideal for a wide range of applications including short and long haul, multiplexed and single fibre links and more.

The Advance PoE (15.4W) Gigabit SFP Media Converter has a standard 240V IEC power input and is supplied with a UK mains power cable. The media converters are supplied individually and optionally bundled with SFP modules as you require.
